Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms save lives! You should test your smoke and CO alarms monthly but at minimum once per year.
Change the batteries in each detector twoice a year, for your safety it’s important to have enough smoke alarms in your Home, If you’re prone to forget this task, change the batteries when you change your clocks for daylight savings time.
TEST YOUR ALARM
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have a test button. You should push it once a month. If the unit does not signal an alarm, you will need to replace the battery and test again.
REPLACE THE BATTERY
Replace the battery every six months. If you hear a warning beep, change the battery right away.
CLEANING
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors become less effective if they are clogged with dust. Follow the manufacturer's directions for cleaning your unit.
